This window will display the kanji frequency rating, reference number in various dictionaries and character codes used with computers (JIS, Shift JIS, Unicode, EUC and kuten).
Frequency data
This number is based on a study of kanji frequency in newspaper texts compiled in 1996. A lower number indicates greater frequency. (Data were available for the most frequently used 2,400 kanji only. All other kanji are marked "5000.")
